Job Description

The Retail Recruiter will be responsible for implementing a retail strategy within the vision and plan for downtown Cincinnati by seeking out and recruiting store operators to create a unique destination for retail. The Recruiter must be committed to this vision and be a tenacious self-starter with the ability to plan and act strategically. The Recruiter will build relationships with prospective retailers, brokers and landlords, (and/or their representatives) and match new retailers with appropriate spaces.

· Prospect for and build relationships with successful independent operators throughout the region

· Share and sell the vision of retail for downtown to prospective tenants

· Build rapport with property owners and their real estate representatives; serve as point-of-contact between them and prospective tenants

· Provide information on the characteristics of specific available spaces and convey leasing information.

· Coordinate and manage the pop-up retail program with City representatives

· Maintain databases of available space downtown and tenant prospects

· Manage appropriate sections of website

· Contribute to the development of marketing materials for recruitment

· Work with prospective retailers from initial contact through store opening.

· This position requires regional work-related travel, including attending trade shows.



Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in related field of study and /or 1-3 years commensurate experience
• Demonstrated ability to work with little or no supervision in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to successfully manage competing and urgent priorities on a regular basis
• Ability to think creatively and solve problems
• Efficiency and professionalism in interacting with broad range of people and positions including independent retailers, corporate retail executives, real estate agents, brokers and landlords, property owners, DCI/DCID boards, Department of Community and Economic Development, as well as DCI staff
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Expertise in Microsoft Office, database programs, and Internet research
• Demonstrated interest in the mission and roles of DCI
• Has a solid knowledge of and affinity for downtown
• Sensitivity to work in highly visible and sometimes political environment
• Passion for the value of diversity and inclusion
